Golfers Need Many Talents

So you think that golf is easy?

O.K., So I toss a little white ball on the ground and puck it with a fat-headed metal stick till it falls in a hole..how hard can that be?

    The Journey Begins:

A friend of mine contends that every round of golf is different even if played on the same course on the same day in the same conditions and I agree with him 100%. golf is one of those sports with so many factors involved so as to make it almost quantum and chaotic by nature. I have often felt like a sea captain, driver in hand standing two meters behind a teed ball and overlooking the sea from the port as I prepare to launch my vessel on a fantastic journey. Bending to the ground to remove a pinch of grass between thumb and forefinger then standing erect to momentarily survey the terrain before tossing the light green strands skywards to get some indication of the winds movement. This ancient ritual alone bonds me with my long dead ancestors who lived before our advanced tools of navigation. Watching the grass gives the golfer and idea of the winds strength and direction. Do these current wind conditions allow me to drive straight or should I play right and let the ball be carried back around by the strong breeze? The golf game now enters the realm of applied mathematics or physics. Each Golf club representing a different distance and height depending on the stance one takes, the individual grip and swing of the golfer (and strength thereof) and the pivot or openness of the golf club face etc. Another factor could be the mental or nervous stress. Are you playing alone or in a tournament? The patience of a vicar and the courage of a G.I. can also be invaluable assets in your golf arsenal. Relatively happy with your drive you leave the safety of the tee and the voyage begins.

    In Full Sail:

Personally I find electric golf carts a nuisance and distraction unless of course you are handicapped or elderly but golf trolleys are fine in order to avert back damage through long years of carrying golf clubs for hundreds of miles. So being in a good health condition is also a requirement for the game of Golf. Striding down the fairway you reach your golf ball and it is plugged in sponge-like ground. Taking out your archeology tools you begin to excavate. Then enters the new aspects of law and conscience as fair play and sportsmanship are required dropping the golf ball the prescribed distance in accordance with the rules of the game. How good is the new placement and how far away from the green are you? Has the wind changed? Oh! Oh! A wide bunker and tall tree stand in the trajectory path so I need to play a high golf shot. I don my aviators cap and prepare for flight. Having plotted in a course both long and high the golf ball leaves the grass runway and sails high out of the metaphoric airport. Pausing momentarily I watch as it lands safely on the green.

    Reaching Your Destination:

The adventure so far has proved rather predictable leaving you with a comforted feeling of smugness. Arriving at the green you prepare to enter the next phase of this multi-personality game of golf. Bending to one knee you survey the grooves and texture of the landscape like an experienced engineer. Walking the distance between golf ball and pin to check for any obstacles that may be laying on the surface the physicist/mathematician returns to calculate the angles and force need to complete the journey. The putter strikes the ball firmly and the echoing hollow plink sound closes a chapter in the days book.

    Epilogue:

true, you may be familiar with every ridge, nook and cranny of a course which you regularly frequent but the constantly changing conditions such as weather, seasons, personal fitness/mental level, course upkeep (pin position/tee distance changes), skill level, playing style, golf club brand etc. can make each round of golf a unique experience.

The Port Fiasco - It's a GOP Trick

The quarterback drops back to pass and he fakes handing off to the fullback. While the onrushing tacklers go for the fullback the quarterback sneaks to the outside and hits the left uncovered tight end with the game winning Hail Mary pass to win the championship football game. In a move worthy of David Copperfield the Grand old Party has come up with the sleight of hand move of the century.

The Republican Party is in power because Karl Rove is calling the plays better than any Democrat. His quarterback George bush was a deserter. The opposition quarterback john Kerry was a decorated war hero. No problem. Hire a few actors to go on television in a swift boat and say that john Kerry was actually a Viet Cong colonel who tortured john McCain.

The Presidents father, the former President, told his son the President, Look, I lost the Presidency because I said Read my lips, no new taxes. Then I raised the taxes and I lost the Presidency. If you want to win the Presidency and become President, all you have to do is to cut taxes. Who cares if the deficit goes to a trillion dollars, and the trade deficit goes to a trillion dollars, and we bankrupt the country? You will be President, I will sit on the board of directors of the Saudi Royal Family, they will funnel billions of oil dollars into our Swiss bank accounts, and let the next President worry about it while we live on yachts in the french Riviera drinking fine french port wine. The President answered, O.K. Dad.

Here is the Port Trick, otherwise known in Karl Roves playbook as 53 Red. The congressional elections are coming up in November. Every Republican congressman and congresswoman is doing everything possible to distance him/herself from the Presidents glaring lies, mismanagement of the war in iraq, the imminent bankruptcy of the country and the Superdome fiasco. The President, the Senate and the House are all Republican and they are all going down the drain like american jobs fleeing to China, whose new car the Geeli is about to hit the U.S. market for $9,000 and get 225 miles per gallon. This all makes Ross Perot sound like the Prophet Isaiah.

So how do the Republicans stay in power in November? The Islamic Barbarianism over a stupid cartoon has every american even more fearful and hateful of the Muslims than after 911. So Karl Rove decides to pretend to sell all of the american Shipping Ports, New York, miami, etc. to the Muslim countries responsible for funding and planning and harboring the 911 crews. The President says to him, Karl, we cant do that; theyll lynch me on the lawn of the White House. Karl says to George, Dont worry about it George. Have I failed you yet?

While the country now goes wild over the prospect of Osama bin Laden and Aymen Al Zwahiri shipping nuclear weapons to Al Qaeda cells in Manhattan, the Republican congress is now going to come to the rescue like john wayne leading the cavalry and block the sale. Then, the Republican congress people are going to say to the american people during the upcoming political campaign, Look, we didnt follow George bush. We saved you from him. We stopped Osama Bin Laden from owning your ports. Initially the bogus plan called for selling all of the american airports to iran, but while Karl Rove and the Bushwhackers were rolling around laughing on the floor of the Oval office at the thought of it, Karl said in a drunken stupor, The american people may be gullible, but they arent that gullible.

Read Hotel Reviews Before Making A Reservation

Before you schedule your vacation in uncharted areas, try to find hotel reviews that can give you an idea of what you will be getting into. Many times travel websites will allow previous users to post their experiences of a particular hotel on the site where potential guests can find out if the facility is going to be right for them.

Quite often pictures posted on the internet about hotels do not exactly match what the hotel actually looks like and if you do not find hotel reviews on that particular place, you could be in for a surprise when you arrive. Typically, hotel reviews offer information about cleanliness of the facility, the friendliness of the staff, the price compared to the quality of the hotel as well as the overall opinion the visitor has of their most recent stay.

Be sure to look for signs that the persons leaving hotel reviews are not allowing their opinion of the overall trip be focused on the hotel alone in hopes of receiving a refund or other form of restitution when none is truly deserved. If one review out of 10 claims the hotel was filthy with rude staff and nine have nothing bad to say, it could an indication that one person is attempting to get something back from the hotel.

Get What You Pay For With hotels

Regardless of where you travel there will be different standards for hotels, which will be reflected in the pricing. Many times a person will book a cheap hotel, expect the same amenities available in a high price location, and then post hotel reviews complaining about the quality. While every visitor deserves cleanliness and friendly employees, the amenities in a cheap hotel will not be of the same standard as those in a more expensive location.

Most travel sites will offer hotel reviews by stars, typically from zero to four with a four star rating being the best and one star hotel reviews advising you that by spending more money you will probably get more enjoyment from your stay. You should also consider the location of the hotel you are looking at and if the price is considerably less than surrounding facilities, that could be a hint that it will not be a four star unit.

You should also return the favor once you return from your trip by writing an honest review of the place at which you stayed. Be sure to be totally honest with any hotel reviews you leave as there may be other people depending on how you state your experience in making their decision of where to stay.
