The Diet Based On Common Sense

In this article I am going to describe what I believe is the perfect diet, a diet built on common sense. I have attempted a number of different weight loss programs over the last few years, most with very little success. The problem with most of these diets was the fact that what they were expecting me to do and eat was just not practical and in certain instances, possible. I am more than happy with this common sense diet as it has not only helped me to lose a lot of weight, it has also enabled me to keep the weight off. I hope this diet proves as successful for you as it has for me.

The Common Sense diet

The first thing that you need to do with the common sense diet is to keep a diary or log of what you eat and drink in a typical week. On the first week, therefore, you need to eat and drink as normal. At the end of the first week you need to assess what you have eaten and drank, this is actually quite scary and eye opening. I could not believe how much I actually ate per week, I felt such a slob when I read it. You then need to think about which items you could do without for the second week, the aim is to reduce your food and alcohol intake by just ten percent.

Fatty foods must go

I decided that I could, I thought, quite easily do without chocolate, crisps and peanuts. I would also attempt to not drink alcohol on the Friday night as this would lead to a multiple of sins, calorie wise. On paper it seems so easy but in reality it was actually very difficult. I had to be very disciplined and determined as my demons regularly tried to tempt me to be naughty.

To be successful with any project you need to work hard and at times sacrifice certain things and attempting to lose weight is no different. I was desperate to attain a lower weight and therefore was willing to do almost anything.

What I had to remember was the fact that I was only going without ten percent of my normal food intake, this surely was not that dramatic.

I am happy to report that I have now reached my target weight and I have never felt so good.

El Nino Season Comes to West Coast in Winter of 2006-2007

It has now been confirmed with scientists, meteorologists and climatologists that the Pacific ocean is heating up and we can expect El Nio season whether on the Pacific coast during the winter of 2006 and 2007. We all know that El Nio brings lots of rain to the West coast and can cause droughts in the Midwest.

This means that in the united States we need to be prepared. Places like california need to worry about their reservoirs, canals and dams. Those people that live in Malibu california will need to worry about landslides and those that live in low-lying areas will get some flooding this year.

El Nio also causes havoc for the Midwest and droughts can hurt crops such as corn to make ethanol and crops to feed livestock. Often it very much hurts our American farmers and those towns in Middle America. There is not much we can do now to change the coming El Nino trend, it is coming and we will have to deal with it once again.

El Nino can also be a problem as it causes vegitation to grow quickly and therefore it grows up tall, but then that means more to dry out later causing more fuel for late summer wildfires and the fire season that follows.

Some even believe that El Nino affects plate tectonics and can be at least a percentage of the cause of Earthquakes and shifts. So, El Nino is a force to be reckoned with and therefore we need to be prepared in advance in our civilization to handle Mother Natures normal climate shifts. Please consider all this in 2006.

Don't Focus on Failure

Internal defeat is a state of mind, where you begin to believe that most new ideas will fail. You might think -After all, what I tried in last week's Yoga class, failed.

You will always learn from mistakes. When you see them clearly as a test, examine the results, and study them closely for the reason why they went wrong.

Whether it is a lesson plan, trying mantras, hot Yoga, gentle Yoga, a pro shop, or trying anything new, it is better to make mistakes than do nothing at all.

Some of the most successful Yoga teachers, I know, deal with mistakes as part of the learning curve. They turn all of their defeats into learning experiences. This is extremely powerful when you consider the cost of learning anything of value.

after all, what did you spend on your education, so far? Did you think you would stop learning at a certain point in life? Did you learn from your past mistakes? Of course you did, and now you are stronger due to the corrective adjustments, you have made.

When a child learns to ride a bicycle, there are plenty of falls along the way, and then the falling stops. However, even skilled adults fall off bicycles, sometimes.

So, dont take past failures personally. Put them behind you and learn from each one.

Henry Ford and the Wright Brothers had failures, but nobody seems to remember that. just like them, you are not a failure, but you may have failed in the past, just like they did. When you get down on yourself, look back at what you have accomplished.

When you take on your next project, do the research first, assemble a team, make a full commitment to succeed, and never mentally quit before you start.

Lastly, whenever it is possible, learn from the mistakes of others. This is why Yoga businesses approach me for consulting services: To save money by avoiding known mistakes, pitfalls, and traps.
